Sustainability Hero Finalists: Most Wanted Awards, London
What a great night was had in London at the ‘Most Wanted’ and ‘IT List’ Awards. This industry event was organised and hosted by Creative Head, the UK’s leading magazine for hair professionals.
We were proud as punch to be shortlisted as a duo for the UK & Ireland ‘Sustainability Hero’ Award. It was a great feeling to represent sustainable hairdressing in Leeds and the north, as all the other salons in our category were based in the south.
After our mad dash to get ready, due to arriving at our hotel later than expected, we arrived to The Beams, Docklands and were immediately hit with how spectacular people looked against the raw industrial vibe of the venue. Each persons outfit seemed to celebrate who they were. This was no ordinary industry event!
After a quick catch up with faces we’d met over the years, and of course our fellow Davines community, we were heading to table 61 to meet our dinner partners. We were met with a really friendly bunch, mainly hair professionals but others that had been thrown in at the deep end by their partners. We felt uplifted to be sharing the evening with our fellow diners.
After lots of chatting over a slap up 2 course dins, the stage began to come alive, first with some comedy, then an iconic ’90s fashion moment’ catwalk delivered by GHD, and finally the awards ceremony, with no less than 22 awards to present to winners.
As our category approached, a wave of nervous energy swept over our table. When our name appeared on the big screen among the finalists, our cheerleaders erupted into applause and cheers, adding to the growing excitement. The tension mounted as we awaited the big moment. And then… drum roll… ahhh, it wasn’t us!
Surprisingly, it wasn’t disappointment that followed—it was joy. We felt an overwhelming sense of pride in what we’d accomplished, not just in our everyday work, but in the countless early mornings and late nights that went into preparing for this moment.
In our industry, there’s no mandate to commit to environmental responsibility. But we choose to go above and beyond because we care deeply about our planet. We want to offer our clients and community hair services that leave a minimal environmental footprint. Our goal is to educate and inspire, helping others make positive changes in their own practices.
A huge congratulations to our fellow finalists: Ashleigh Hodges from Mash Studio, Lee Nash-Jones and Rob White from Nashwhite, and Samantha Cusick from Sta Studios. And a special shout out to Lisa Phillips from Ora Hair for taking home the award! A big round of applause to everyone who entered the Sustainability Hero Award, 2024—thank you for sharing your green hearts with our industry to help create change 💚.
Creative Head and London….WATCH OUT! We’ll be back next year to claim our northern throne!
