How to make 2023 the year you love your life and work!
When we talk about sustainable business, it doesn’t just refer to doing things ‘Green, it means looking at all aspects of the business with a more holistic approach to not only its operations, but also to the people within it. The wellbeing of our PEOPLE is just as important as our vegan products, and if a team is happy, good stuff radiates out.
We have always been really clear on our team vision for Masters of Craft, which was to create a salon with; more heart; more emphasis on team; a more nurturing environment; more time to do services well; more focus on well-being and to ensure our team understand the vision, their role and feel supported on their career path direction.
We’ve always taken our time in finding the right people to join our merry little team, and they were always people who had got really clear about what they want and don’t want.
We want EVERYONE in the hair industry getting the work environment and team they truly desire. So, since it’s the time of year where we often reflect about things, we thought it’s a great time to pose some questions that could help you in 2023 with work and life!
1. What are the things I’m most passionate about?
Think about what’s excited you the most during your life until now. Things you are most passionate about should always become a part of your life goal, but adulting can often get in the way.
Once you’ve remembered what you love, find ways to bring it back into your work and life. For example, we are passionate about nature, so we decided to make our salon more environmentally friendly.
2. What are my greatest accomplishments in life so far?
We are confident you have done things that you are proud of. Make a list and contemplate on how these accomplishments made you feel? Did it fill you with gusto and enthusiasm?
Why not try and outdo one of those things and create more excitement in life? For example, suppose you did really well at art, could you learn a new art technique, or explore creating and selling some art?
3. If my life had absolutely no limits, what would I choose to have, what would I choose to do, who would I spend time with?
This question is about removing barriers to our thoughts so we can really understand what is important to us. Making decisions based on answers to such questions will help you create a life that is filled with the right activities and people for happiness and fulfilment.
Stop thinking about all the limitations and start thinking about the possibilities.
4. What are my goals in life?
Your life is a combination of six vital facets. These aspects are your professional life, health, spiritual wellness, wealth, relationship, and mental strength. You need to set goals for each aspect to help you live a good life. When you perform well in all these areas, you will feel content and happy.
5. Whom do I admire most in the world?
You need to have some to look up to. These people inspired you to do something, and now you have to opportunity to follow in their footsteps and become an inspiration to others.
They say you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Therefore, you should avoid spending time with people who hold you back and do not let you decide your goals. Spending more time with people you admire will give you a better outlook towards life and help you become happy and optimistic.
6. What do I not like to do?
When figuring your life out, sometimes it can be easier to consider what you don’t like, what creates negative emotions in you. Understanding what you don’t like, brings you closer to what you really like!
It could be certain elements of your work or personal life, activities, environments or people. Once you understand what you don’t like, start looking for things that help you stay away from them.
7. How hard am I willing to work and what changes can I make to get what I want?
This is all about putting into ACTION everything you’ve now learnt.
If you want to change things with your life, you’re going to have to make an effort, get outside your comfort zone and learn as much as you can to achieve as much as you can.
But here’s the cool part: it’s often the journey that is the most fulfilling part. It’s during these seemingly small, insignificant moments that you’ll often find that “aha” moments that helps you answer the question.
