Quiet and Mindful Hair Appointments
You may come to the salon for the opportunity to speak to a friendly ‘stranger’ which can be so therapeutic and we want to reassure you that we are here for being that listening ear.
For others of us, the idea of chatting when we are getting our new do is overwhelming or tiring, and so we want you to know you don’t have to talk. You can book the ‘Add on’ of quiet appointment in our booking system, or let us know when you book or arrive.
Mindful moments in your appointment
Being in the salon could be an even more powerful self care experience if you take time to be really present and mindful. There are two great times to easily be mindful; when your hair is being washed, and when it’s being blow dried.
At the sink is a great opportunity for you to close your eyes so the other senses can be more heightened.
- Notice the temperature and sensation of the water.
- Notice the smell of the shampoo.
- Notice the movement and pressure of the head massage.
As your hair is being dried there is more noise and sensation to focus on, providing some space between you and the bustle of a salon.
- Take some slow breaths
- Focus in on the sound
- Focus on the warmth of the air on your skin
- Imagine a warm white light blows onto your head and cascades down.
